Baseball Superstars 2009 provides you with the option of playing in multiple modes including Normal Mode, My League, Season Mode, Home Run Derby, and Mission Mode. Normal Mode should be used if you are interested in getting directly to game play. In this mode it is just you vs the computer in a 1 on 1 game. Select My League if you want to form your own team. Creating a player or team in the paid version will allow you to participate in the Home Run Derby or play in Mission Mode. You can even play an entire season of baseball.

In Baseball Superstars 2009 you have a choice of 10 teams with varying levels of skill across 5 categories including batting, pitching, running, defence and throwing. Once you have selected your team you will be asked to choose a pitcher. In Normal Mode you will choose the computers team that you will play. There are 4 fields to pick from including a field with turf, grass, dirt infield and a dome field.

Batting in this game is all about timing! The ball, once thrown by the pitcher will streak towards the plate and when you feel it is time to swing, you should press the circular button on the right side of the screen. Once the ball is hit the remainder of the game play is automated and your runners will circle the bases for you.

When it is your turn to pitch you must select what type of pitch you would like to throw prior to the start of the play. The box above the pitcher tells you what pitches you have available and what corresponding button you need to press to select a pitch. Once the pitch has been selected you will see a red box with a target in it for you to select your pitch location. Next, press the circular button on the right side of the screen to start play.
